Husbands/wives hmmm

It's funny but husbands and wives like to go to the heavy hitters in Timothy where it says husbands "love your wives" and wives "submit to your husbands" often using them as battering rams against them!

o.k.

Actually, it begins in Genesis. What do they say, back to Genesis?!

Check out Genesis 3:16:
- to the woman " and thy desire shall be to thy husband and he shall rule over you." I think most women either throw that one out or ignore it! Cross reference verses: 1 Cor 11:3 Eph 5:22-23

- to the man "because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife and hast eaten..." Then God goes into pronouncing what it going to happen to him as a result. Check out 1 Sam. 15:23 this verse deals with rebellion and rejection from being king. Other verses as a cross reference to this are: Gen 2:17 Ro 8:20 and Eccl 2:23

Genesis gives the beginning and the why this order was put in place then the cross references continue the process of how to live - the daily nuts and bolts of the husband/wife relationship now that they were thrown out of the garden and had to deal with sin in their lives.

Ephesians chapter 5:22-33 addresses the husband/wife relationship in more detail. However, it is interesting that the preceding verse (21) says "submitting one to another"!

Another cross reference is on 1 Cor 11:3, this refers to Gen 3:16 and 1 Tim 2:11. When I looked up 1 Tim 2:11 it takes you to another scripture that is not popular with women as men will use it against them in the wrong context. However, it looking at the scriptures around that verse, 9-15, it gives more understanding to the whole issue of the whys and wherefores of relationship.

I hope this helps you. It helped me in the past.

Also it is very important to do a word study using either the Webster's dictionary or Greek or Hebrew lexicon to really good understanding on certain words i.e reverence!
